Ranking the Roy Kids by Who Should Have Been the Succesor (Tv)

Succession is one of the most nuanced and quite frankly fun shows to come out in the last 20 years. Now that it has been in the rearview mirror for over a year let’s rank the 4 Roy kids based on which should have been the successor by series end. Yes, Connor gets to be on this list too. So let’s rank the back stabbing, wisecracking, power hungry kids we have all grown to hate to love over the years. Without further ado the Quad Culture Succession hierarchy we hope Logan Roy would have loved but probably wouldn’t have.

4: Connor Roy

Despite his potential 1% had he stayed in the presidential race Connor is the least cut throat and has the least knowledge of the business. In a lot of the ways he is the least like his father or pop as he calls him and while in most cases this is a good thing in the case of the business Connor is thoroughly behind his three half siblings. Also the arranged marriage with a prostitute just is not a good look for the CEO of a major media company, right?

3: Roman Roy

I was rather shocked when I slotted Roman at three. There are distinct parts of this series where I distinctly think he could and should have been CEO. However the impulsiveness and honestly brazenness of Roman inevitably would always lead to his failure. In his brief time as co-CEO with his brother he basically creates 2 massive lawsuits by firing two high level employees one of which being Jerry who might be the best at her job of everyone on the show. Not to mention the man is a HR nightmare.

2: Siobhan Roy

Shiv is the queen of the castle and in many ways the most stable force for the company. The company likely could have and would have been hers had she been patient. At the end of the day experience has to matter and Shiv was simply not interested in taking the time to acquire it. A fashion icon nonetheless though.

1: Kendall Roy

The self proclaimed “oldest boy” is not without his problems but he questionably wants it the most and is willing to do whatever to guarantee the success of the company if he is leading it. His experience is also the most of the kids which is a big factor. I do wonder if that story when he was seven was true though.

So Kendall wins our hypothetical Roy battle for succession of the company but here's the thing that’s a terrible option because as much as I have grown to love these kids over the last 39 episodes they as Logan so eloquently put “are not serious people.”

Ninety-Five Senses the Biggest Snub of the 2024 Oscars (Movies)

A few weeks ago the Oscars came and went with mostly positive reviews. There were no slaps or wrong announcements in fact it was hailed as a success. This came as welcomed news for the Academy as it has been a rather rough stretch of shows the last few years. Even bigger for the Academy was that not only was the show a broadcasting and entertainment success but their choices were hailed as consistent and dare I say correct. I know shocker, the Academy picked the right people to win, what a world we live in. However, now that we are a few weeks removed and my daze of excitement from Gosling's dazzling “I'm Just Ken” performance is gone, I have one major complaint about what I thought was the biggest snub of the night.  Usually the public gets up in arms about things like best picture or best actor, these are the categories that most are at least a little bit educated on. This means upsets like Shakespeare in Love winning over Saving Private Ryan are almost always the big story....

You Should Watch: Big Fish (Movies)

Tim Burton is a bit eccentric, well maybe very eccentric but that is what makes him so endearing. Whether it’s Beetlejuice or his iteration of Batman in 1989 it seems that the award winning director prides himself and his films on being well, distinguishable. Burton has had his fair share of successes and flops. When it comes to the flops however they are often one sided in the sense that if the critics don’t like it usually the audience does and vice versa however if neither like it you can count on his devoted group of fans to find the silver lining. This is what makes his 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes rather disappointing, aside from an interesting twist Burton’s rendition to put it kindly falls flat on its face and seemed to not land with any audience. Burton's career has not really been the same since so what comes next in Burton’s filmography after this misstep is potentially his most underrated and odd film of all.     ...
