Ten Movies You Should Be Excited For In 2025 (Movies)

Tis the season for optimism but we are sort of nearing a tipping point. The war rages on between the cinema and streamers with no true end in scope. Yet in a time where many have chanted to survive till 2025 we are finally here and my normally pessimistic self can’t help but feel excited for what is to come. From Cruise to Marvel here are the 10 movies you should be excited for.

10: 28 Years Later

A sequel not quite 28 years in the making presents a stacked cast with Aaron Taylor-Johnson to name one. Not to mention the new and innovative way of filming could change the game of how movies look from here on out.

9: F1

Brad Pitt, an old movie star, pairs up with the director of Top Gun Maverick for a high speed racing movie in the world of one earth's fastest growing sports. Hell. Freaking. Yeah.

8: Micheal

Music bio picks may feel the same each time yet we keep on going and they keep getting awards buzz. Expect no difference from the movie that will try to cover one of the most complex and controversial lives of maybe America's biggest music icon.

7: The Bride

Perhaps the most overlooked movie on this list and that is a shame. With Bale and Buckley this movie is dripping with untapped horror movie talent especially with Maggie Gyllenhal behind the camera.

6: Ballerina

The heat that was coming off Ana De Armas may have cooled a bit but her skill is undeniable and the Wick franchise may be just what she needs. Pairing a young star with high octane action has had mixed results but I have high expectations for this one.

5: Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning

Cruise is still the unquestioned movie star in a town starved for stars. Expect quality at a minimum and exhilaration at best.

4: Avatar: Fire and Ash

I am a known hater of both Cameron’s mythos and of his style over substance approach. However these movies practically print money and this one seems as though it could be the darkest installment yet and Cameron can really give a spectacle.

3: Wicked: For Good

Wicked was one of the most shocking films of 2024 for me. The second installment will not have the benefit of lower expectations yet the Wicked Witch truly becoming her villainous self seems well worth high expectations.  Plus, new soundtrack!

2: Jurassic World Rebirth

I might be one of the first to tell you that I have hoped for the death of this franchise, the latter installments of the Jurassic World trilogy I absolutely loathe. Yet competent directions and stars that are not always action heroes intrigues me for some reason. Like it intrigues me a lot.

1: Fantastic Four First Steps

Fantastic Four has finally arrived in the MCU. The director is good, the concept is intriguing, and the cast looks damn near perfect. Marvel desperately needs a new hit and not to have to go back to playing the hits. I would be shocked if this isn’t one of the best MCU movies ever, I know it's a hot take. I’m not backing off either.

Ninety-Five Senses the Biggest Snub of the 2024 Oscars (Movies)

A few weeks ago the Oscars came and went with mostly positive reviews. There were no slaps or wrong announcements in fact it was hailed as a success. This came as welcomed news for the Academy as it has been a rather rough stretch of shows the last few years. Even bigger for the Academy was that not only was the show a broadcasting and entertainment success but their choices were hailed as consistent and dare I say correct. I know shocker, the Academy picked the right people to win, what a world we live in. However, now that we are a few weeks removed and my daze of excitement from Gosling's dazzling “I'm Just Ken” performance is gone, I have one major complaint about what I thought was the biggest snub of the night.  Usually the public gets up in arms about things like best picture or best actor, these are the categories that most are at least a little bit educated on. This means upsets like Shakespeare in Love winning over Saving Private Ryan are almost always the big story....

Tim Riggings...Forever (Tv)

It’s been over 10 years since the last episode of Friday Night Lights aired. It’s funny now to think that the show has bounced from streaming service to streaming service, still remaining in some vague sense of popularity. One of the unquestionable strengths of the show that follows high school football coach Eric Taylor is that despite his name often running first in the credits he is seemingly not the main character. In fact the coach like all great coaches acts as more of a catalyst for those around him to shine. In this sense there are many great characters and with them many great actors that entered the show however no story is more interesting than that of Tim Riggins, played by Taylor Kitsch. If you haven’t seen Friday Night Lights you may still recognize Kitsch. For the longest time he was tabbed as the next big star in Hollywood but a few box office failures later, Kitsch is still most well known for his often silent role as the troub...
